چکیده
This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of phenological and diurnal variation on volatile oil content quality Salvia officinalis L. (Lamiaceae) cultivated in Afyonkarahisar/Turkey. The harvesting times based ontogeny were pre-flowering, flowering post-flowering stages. took place three a day, at 6:00 a.m., 2:00 8:00 p.m. results showed that highest obtained stage (2.05%). In general, best time last hours day. synthesis almost same other amount increased sunset day all studied Among identified S. compounds, oxygenated monoterpenes largest chemical group (52.8-68.6%). α-Thujone (13.0-35.8%) major compound most samples. lowest values this observed stages, respectively. main compounds camphor (7.0-20.2%), 1,8-cineole (6.9-14.1%), borneol (2.8-15.8%) veridiflorol (4.5-12.3%). climatic factors such as length, insolation, temperature plant growth affected quantity officinalis. for is Afyonkarahisar conditions. compositions varied widely different harvest (ontogeny diurnal).

Evaluation of Antibacterial Activity of Salvia Officinalis L. Sage Oil on Veterinary Clinical Isolates of Bacteria
In the study except a strain of Dermatophilus congolensis isolated from a dog blood suffering from pyrexia, all bacterial isolates from diseased animals were resistant to discs containing 2 microL sage oil. The only sensitive strain of D. congolensis also showed narrow zone (8 mm) of growth inhibition while the sensitive reference strain of E. coli-382 had 10-12 mm zone of growth inhibition aro...
متن کاملChemical and genetic relationships among sage ( Salvia officinalis L.) cultivars and Judean sage ( Salvia judaica Boiss.).
The essential oil composition and genetic variability of common sage ( Salvia officinalis L.) and its three ornamental cultivars ('Purpurascens', 'Tricolor', and 'Kew Gold') as well as Judean sage ( Salvia judaica Boiss.) were analyzed by GC-FID, GC-MS, and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD). Common sage and its cultivars contained the same volatile compounds; only the ratio of compounds d...

This study presents an attempt to evaluate the antioxidant potential and antimicrobial activity of methanolic extract, and essential oils prepared from the leaves of sage (Salvia officinalis L.). The content of polyphenol in the methanolic extracts from the leaves of Salvia officinalis was determined spectrophotometrically, calculated as gallic acid and catechin equivalent. The essential oils a...
متن کاملThe Chemotaxonomy of Common Sage (Salvia officinalis) Based on the Volatile Constituents
Background: Common sage (Salvia officinalis) is a popular culinary and medicinal herb. A literature survey has revealed that sage oils can vary widely in their chemical compositions. The purpose of this study was to examine sage essential oil from different sources/origins and to define the possible chemotypes of sage oil. Methods: Three different samples of sage leaf essential oil have been ob...
متن کاملAntioxidative Phenolic Compounds from Sage (Salvia officinalis)
Ten phenolic compounds were isolated from a butanol fraction of sage extracts. Their structures were determined by spectral methods (NMR, MS, IR). Among them, a novel compound, 4-hydroxyacetophenone-4-O-â-D-apiofuranosyl-(1f6)-O-â-D-glucopyranoside, was identified. Two test systems, DPPH free radical scavenging activity and radical cation ABTS•+ scavenging activity, were used to evaluate their ...
